Wet Coyotes
« on: December 31, 2006, 04:17:11 PM »
I'm going out no matter what but I've never been so persistant that I hunt through the wet season here in WA state. Do coyote behave differently in the wet season? If they moved towards cover I wondered if their concentrations would be higher near heavier woods.  Do they hunt in the woods?  I figure the jump Turkeys from time to time.  No matter what, no one does much in the rain but I'd like to figure out some of their winter washington ways.

Try to hunt low and out of the wind, its mating season now so keep that in mind when calling love and territory before food.

Good luck.

Good tip,THNX Gary.  So distress calls are a bit futile then.  Barks and yips may fluf the more romantic/competitive fur you think? ::)

Yes thats a good bet i also will throw something off the normal menu , chickens, goats, racoons coyotes hugrey or not seem to like to get in on a good killing.
I will turn the foxpro on to racoon in distress and then do barks and yips on a hand call and if they are around they come running to the fight.

Hey Gary, FoxPro isn't cheap.  I'm prone to be but within reason.  Nothings worth even a dollar if it's cr@p.  I do not, however, have much $$$ to spend on an electronic caller.  Any rex on a less expensive unit that plays well.  Are they sampled sounds?  I'll draw the line at Casio.  MAybe not.  We are throwing strange sounds into the distance I guess.  Maybe I'll answer my own Q.  Tape deck...Tapes...Volume....Pause...Repeat.  I'm not fond of the rewind and cue it up though.

Go to predatormasters.com they tell you how to build a homemade one .
You can still kill them with only a hand call or two.

How do I build an E caller?

CD Player =Better stop and repeat control compared to a tape
Speakers  =Light, compact, loud enough to turn it down
etc? I have no more ideas.  I know you do! ;D
