Barnes Bullet performance with Pics
« on: January 04, 2007, 06:23:39 AM »
Here are the pics of the bullet I retrived from my wifes buck.  It was lodged between his ribs and shoulder on his right side.  Apparently the bullet struck his neck, cut his jugular and penetrated to that point.

Bullet looks wonderful.  I don't have a scale small enough, but I am guessing 90% weight retention.  I am totally sold on these Barnes all copper bullet thus far.

Sorry the pics aren't clearer, they were the best I could get.

They are a great bullet.  My son used the Barnes Expanders in his muzzleloader and got 2 deer the first time out Muzzleloading. The first deer was shot broad side and exited and the deer dropped in it's tracks. The second deer was shot at 50 yards and went through the front shoulder (spatula) and exited the other shoulder and was under the hide on the opposite side, we recovered the bullet with 95% weight retention.

Here is my result photo from this year..

the two Barnes triple shocks i have recovered looked just like that with 99% weight retention!!!!!!!!!!Cant beat these bullets, the design is flawless in my opinion and they penetrate better than any expanding bullet i have ever used.

I been using the spitfire 285gr for 3 yrs now and the accurrcy of them along with the outstanding penitration is the best. 7 deer and 2 hogs I've shot through all of them and no animal has made it over 50yds.  ;)
