Question for you knowledgible folks???
« on: January 07, 2007, 08:12:27 AM »
I have an old 1975 topper junior gun with a case colored frame, would you guys feel comfortable if it were yours mounting a 357 max barrel on it. It seems from what ive read that the max has higher pressure than the standard 357 mag, what do ya think??

A lot depends on the loads you use, I had perforated primers using factory Dan Wesson 357maxi ammo on a 2003 Topper frame, apparently the primers were thin enough that it caused a problem with the large hole around the firing pin. I wouldn't recommend it, but if you try it, be aware of the issues that may result and what to look for that may be indicators of a potential problem.

I put the .357maxi barrel on an SB2 frame and never had a problem since. ;)

Maybe the Maximum runs at pressure levels sufficient to require the use of small rifle primers. The rifle should detonate them OK.

.357 MAX SHOULD BE LOADED WITH SAME RIFLE PRIMERS!!!!! to much pressure for small pistol primers..
