can you order a barrel from h&r and not have it fitted.seems it takes awhile to
get them back.custom work is going to be done to it anyway.hopefully this
would be faster and save on me shipping reciever twice

Might be worth buying a barrel from somebody (on this forum or even
'shudder'
eBay) if your gun is gonna be customized anyway - the barrel, if it needs fitting, can be done at the same time. And your receiver won't be in the H&R 'black hole' for a couple of months.
And just in case you are in the market, I have a 223HB I want to trade off: See classifieds
