30/30 Ultra
« on: January 07, 2007, 09:52:54 AM »
This has been ask before but I was unable to find the answer by going to search. How is the Ultra 30/30 as for all around shooting as compaired to the Marlin 336? Also how does it shoot with the new Levereveloution ammo? I will be using it for deer hunting next season, most of my shots will be 200 yds. or less. Any problems with this Cal. in an Ultra? I have a new bushnell trophy 3x9x40 scope I will be putting on the Ultra, also I do not reload ammo.---------------------- Thank's.

Unfortunately, the .30-30 isn't available in an Ultra, only as a Handi. Of course the only difference is the stock set which wouldn't be hard to make happen after you buy the Handi. ;)

Can't help ya on the ammo, but there have been a few posts on it here.

Well I just looked at the H&R web. site and it looks like you can only get the 30/30 in a Handi rifle with steel sights not in the Ultra .---------- Thank's.

Once you have been thoroughly bitten by the handi-Holic bug  ;) it won't be any problem at all to set up a 30-30 with Ultra laminated stocks, cinnamon, camo, brown, etc. and with a nice scope on a rail you get from another gun or straight from H&R, it will make a great 150-200 yard gun with the leverevolution stuff.........I would think anyway. I had a 30-30 that I shot with Winchester factory 150gr. and it was a good shooter at 100 yards. Cost me  a deer cause I had it sighted too high tho.........but it was a still a good shooter and would print nice MOA groups at 100.
Here's a pic of a .357 set up with some cinnamon laminated stocks. I also have a my 445 Supermag (originally a 44mag) on the same style setup.
