Which Chrono

Well I need to bite the bullet and get a chronograph.  I've concluded that you can't reload very long w/o one or at least w/o access to one.  Which would you recomend?  Can't spend a whole lot of money on one.

I have the Chrony Beta Master which I am very happy with. I would go with a chronograph that has the remote control  panel. ;D

Mine doesn't have the remote thing but it works good.  It is a ProChrono and it cost a little over $100 delivered from www.midwayusa.com.  It quit giving a reading yesterday at the range so I changed the 9 volt battery and it came right back.  This is the second one I have had, the first one worked great until a young guy I took to the private range I belong to shot it with his 270 win.  I don't care what it cost or how many features it has I don't think it will stand up to that kind of treatment.

On a budget, look at Pact chronographs. They are reliable, tough and as accurate as my Ohler. I have both and I use the Pact more often than the other one. Once I found out that the difference between them was less than the shot to shot deviation the Pact was easier to transport, supplied all the needed information, and took half the time to set up. I would recommend the Chrony but I have heard too many stories of guys putting a bullet through the brains of them and having to buy another one anyway. They are a little cheaper but not when you have to buy it over and over again.

The reason I recommended the remote control panel is the brains are in the control panel and if you shoot the screen box it is much cheaper to replace than replacing the brains.

Geez guys, have a care,  I've had a Chrony every since they first came out (same one) and haven't shot it yet. (tell me, that won't be the kiss of death!)

I understand you can go direct to Chrony and get a re-furb for well under $100.

Mine will work for about anything you can pass over the top of it.  My son even chronographed his air soft pistol with mine at a whopping 237 ft/sec.
