Waiting to take some meat out of the smoker so I've been reading alot of the old postings. I haven't seen anything on this rifle. It's not that uncommon of a caliber. I beleive there's two other guys I work with that have one, that's out of 150 guys. Biggest animal I've shot yet is a cow moose at a little over 350 yards. Over two and a half feet on penatration, last rib to under the hide on the off shoulder. This is with a 225 gr Trophy Bonded not the greatest SD but great bullet. A lot of deer have fallen to it and a few antelope too. Granted the 338 has better SD for the most common bullet weights but Swift has a 285gr that needs a closer look. Can a 338 shoot as flat. 3050ft/sec for the 250's and 3300ft/sec for the225's You want to talk about engery this so leaves even the great 375 H&H sorrowfully lacking except for frontal area.

Has anyone used or even heard of one being used on African game and if not why not?
