Knight TK2000 for crows
« on: January 02, 2007, 06:42:35 AM »
I want to give my TK2000 a shot hunting crows. I was thinking on using the knight shot cup full of #5 and 100 grains of 2F Pyrodex. I’m thinking on combining fox hunting using predator calls and crows at the same time. I always seems like the crows are interested the first time that I set up to call. Once they figure out what the noise is they become less interested. But by having a shotgun and not my 36 caliber muzzleloader may give me a shot at one. The Knight has the full choke tube. Any loads or info would be appreciated!

The load you're using should be fine. I use #6's and 100 grains of Pyrodex for crows in my TK. You can buy improved and modified choke tubes for it from Knight.

I tried using some regular shotgun wads. I was only able to put about 1oz of #5 shot in the ones I had. Used 70 grains of Pyrodex R
At 25 yards they patterned with gaps in the center and with more shot holes around the edges. I’m going to cut the bottom of the wad off and maybe a little less powder.
I also have to try ones that hold about a 1 1/2 of shot. Maybe I’ll find a small game load. Saving some shot and powder in the process.

Thanks

You can order "multi-metal" wads from Midway in 2 3/4", 3", and 3 1/2". That should cover all of your needs. They will pattern well in the TK. You can use an old 12 gauge choke tube that has been sharpened on the thread end to cut overshot wads from foam meat trays from the grocery store.
