Extra barrels
« on: January 11, 2007, 07:17:19 AM »
I hope to start sighting in my Handi in .243 this weekend. I plan on mounting a Bushnell Banner 3-9X40 on the rifle. I noticed that NEF offers extra barrels. I'm kind of thinking about the 45-70 and 20 gauge rifled barrel.I would use the 45-70 for black bear and the 20 gauge for local shotgun season. So how are the barrels in those calibers? Is the original forearm used for the new barrels? Also would you get them both done at the same time. Most I likely would use the 45-70 barrel first.

Thanks!

The 45/70 is a must have for any Handi lover. They are one of best right out the box, and the orignal forearm will work fine. The 20ga USH barrel will come with a new forearm included, not sure about the Tracker II barrel. It is more cost effective to buy your barrels at the same time to save on shipping costs.

Dido on what 45/70 fan said , the forarm from your 243 will fit both the 45-70 and Tracker 2 barrels , i have the 45 and it is my fav barrel , just sold my Tracker 1 barrel in 12 ga. to get me a t2 in 20 ga.

As far as getting both at one time , i'd say yes it will save you some shipping cost and also some time without the frame as you will only need to send it in 1 time as opposed to 2 trips to the factory .

If you'd like the trigger lightened to about 3½lbs and it's not already there, have it done while it's there. There has been one person that was charged $30 for a trigger job recently, so they may no longer be free.

Ok, Guys I’ll probably get both barrels at the same time and maybe the trigger done!
Thanks
