I'm in the final steps of planning my next project rifle, the finishing.

I've decided to silver plate my receiver and gold plate a few of the other parts: trigger, hammer, action release, etc. 

I'm starting off with a case hardened receiver, and I have the understanding that I must copper or nickel plate it first, then polish to desired luster, then plate the copper/nickel with silver.    ...is that correct?  Its been awhile since my last chemistry class...  LOL

I am not a plater but any commercial plater will know exactly what must be done.. This is not a DIY part of a project..
