Just got back from Shooting 338 Federal Foxridge Barrel
« on: January 28, 2007, 01:34:31 PM »
What a sweetheart this barrel is.  It's 26" Stainless from T/C's Foxridge Custom shop.  I used R-P brass that went through 338 Fed dies, deburred and loaded with mid range  loads from www.loaddata.com using Hornady 200 gr SP seated just touching to fireform cases.  Recoil is much less than any 30-06 or 7mm mag barrel I've owned and more of a shove rather than a slap.  And it really rattles the gongs too.  Should be great hunting round.  I was getting some old powders used up and just about anything I tried appears to be capable of least 1-1/4".  Once we got scope set we just shot gongs.   Muzzle blast whole bunch less than 7 Mag barrel.   If you're looking for a "buster" that won't bust your shoulder and ears consider this cartridge for sure.
