How about SIG? Still shopping?
« on: January 04, 2007, 05:19:19 PM »
Ok, now I have a Kimber Eclipse Custom, purchased used.  Got it home and the thumb safty extension promptly broke off.  Called Kimber and they are sending a new one...ok.
I want second 1911 and looked at the Sig Revolution.  It is just like a 1911 except that the extractor is external.  Great fit and finish, night sights, 2 Novak mags., $750.
Does anyone have any experience with them?

By the way I looked at a bunch of Springfields.  The made in Brazil, "loaded" models did not have consistent trigger pulls, safty pressure.  To get the quality you had to go with the American made models which all were over $1,200.
Kimber is still better and gives you more for the money.

Thanks once again for your help!

Ruger M77 243, Browning B2000, Ruger 22's, Ruger Red Hawk, SBlackhawk, Savage 223 Target...about 20+rifles less than I used to have. :-(

I like Sigs.
I am considering a 1911 if my plans fall thru on the custom.
I have read some reports of some glitches over at Sig QC, however.
The cutsom shop model is a better weapon.
The SA from the custom shop has drawn some very favorable responses.
Blessings

dont know i had a series one kimber target that is just there standard model. I probably ran 100000 rounds through it sold it to my buddy who shoots even more them me and the thing is still runing strong with no problems or breakage. Only thing ever done to it is new springs and one new extractor that probably could have been salvaged by bending. My gold cup has more rounds then any gun ive ever owned and its been dead reliable too. My guess is the sig is a good gun. IVe never shot one so cant really testify but most of what sig makes is good stuff. But for the money you want to spend id look for a used gold cup colt or a gold match kimber.

My Springfield "Brazil" is a nice weapon. Its fit a finish are ok. Its function is good. All aspects are servicable. But that is what it is and all that I paid for. I have no issues with the wepaon and I am sure for 1200 dollars the USA made pice would be that much better. I have found no issues with Sig. For at leat two decades they have consistantly produced one of the highest quality weapons made at any price.

Springfield is growing on me. The more I shoot the more I like.
I may put a bit of time and some money in it for some extras. I bought it for a have around just in case and hard use but it has kind of found a sweet spot. I am starting to think about looking for a tad less to be used and abused.
