I think this is what you mean but obviously with the camera/spotting scope adapter? This was a HP M407 4.2mp with 3x optical zoom thru a 8x scope out to 60 yards with some raven on coyote bait this winter. It was the best I could do.

I'm still experimenting with a new Sony 7.2mp with 12x optical. Tried some night shots over bait with a full moon last week thru the same scope but got nothing. I need to jury rig a tripod with the delayed shutter. Have a wolf coming into my coyote/fox bait stations (wolf are illegal to shoot in MN) and I'm hoping to get a pic of it.

i understand that you are supposed to use a compact or point and shoot camera behind a spotting scope. the larger the objective lense, the better the results.
i have messed with it a little with my phone camera as thats all i have for digital camera for now. it works if i am lucky and the moon and stars line up. would seem like it would work better with better quality camera.

I experimented last weekend at the cabin with a 7.2mp 12x optical zoom digital camera and the results were dismal.

This is the same 8x scope above with big 56mm objective

This is thru a Leupold 25x spotting scope, probably around 60mm objective

The shots were taken at sundown. They were the best I could do. It's obvious I'm going to have to simply invest in another zoom lens for the digital camera which they make for around $150 and I'll end up with around 20x optical.

I thought it was it was an excellent idea lutefisk louie but alas...the quality of the pic is just to poor. I had to take 8-10 shots to get the above and try all kinds of settings.
