After market stocks .... ?
« on: January 16, 2007, 07:40:55 AM »
Any of you replace your factory Ruger M77 Mark II stocks with one from Boyd's, etc? I am just thinking out loud here as I have one in .243. This is my coyote rifle and is pretty darn accurate. I know ... some will say "leave it alone" but I am just thinking. Surely some of you have changed stocks over the years.

I restocked my stainless M77 7 saum with after market stock from Accurate inovations. a laminate stock in what they call ghost color, It has an aluminum bedding and a titanium pin in the wrist area, overall an nice drop in stock. Too be honest with you I havnt shot it much since I put it on but it shoots sub moa with my handloads.

rugerfan01 -

Did you get the VIP model?  How much work was required or was it a drop-in?

rugerfan01 ...

I appreciate the picture. I think that looks really good. I didn't expect to actually get to see one but now my fever is gaining ground. There is nothing wrong with my rifle but I feel it could be so much more. I put an after market stock on my Savage 10FP and I wouldn't take twice the money I have in it. It is a tack driver for sure. My .243 is consistently in the .500" to .600" group range with a factory synthetic stock.

Like Coyote Hunter, I am curious how much work was involved and of course, accuracy issues.

Thanks for the pic.

It was a simple drop in, and in reply to coyote hunter I dont think it was a VIP model just a laminate. The guy over there name is Ben Deruyter, a heck of a nice fellow he is in Rapid city South Dakota.
Accuracy is really good for my liking as it is a hunting rifle, It shoots sub moa with Hrndy 139 interlocks and interbonds as well as Nosler accubonds.
sorry for the late reply.
