Breaking in a new rifle

I have a new Ruger M77 MII and was wanting to know how to properly break it in.

I think that there are many different ways to break one in and some folks dont believe its necessary,
However this is the way that i do it .
I clean the barrel good before the first shot.
Clean it after every shot for the first 10 shots
Then shoot three shot groups and clean it for the next ten.
I cant tell you if it makes it shoot any better but It does make it easier to clean IMO.
Use a good copper remover for cleaning the copper or a dual purpose cleaner,
just a powder solvent will not get the copper.
also if you have a bore guide and a good one piece rod they are a plus.

I tend to agree with Rugerfan.
Your benchrest guys will be much more anal but for a hunting rifle I do very much like whar rugerfan wrote.
