Mossberg 930 vs Remington Wingmaster
« on: February 05, 2007, 10:55:06 AM »
I'm looking at buying a good all-purpose 12ga.  I'd like either a pump or an autoloader in the $400 to $700 range.  I really like the Mossberg 930.  I don't need a magnum is the reason I don't say the 935.  However, I've heard mixed reviews about it.  Some say it's great and others say they don't trust any autoloaders from Mossberg.  The Wingmaster has proven its worth through the years but it doesn't feel near as good to me as the Mossberg.  Just wondering if anyone had any thoughts.  Are there any other good guns for this purpose that I'm overlooking?  I'm open for anything right now.  Thanks for any feedback.

The BPS is the best real hunter's shotgun on the market today.

Of the major manufacturers I'd pick them in this order:
Browning BPS
Benelli Nova
Remmington 870
Benelli SBE
Winchester X2
Remmington 11-87
Ithica 37
Winchester 1200/1300
Mossbergs

You get what you pay for.

I have a Browning A5, 870 WM, Ithica 37 featherweight, Remington 1100, remington 11-87.  My personal choice for the best of the bunch is the 1100.  My fav. though is the A5...for sentamental reasons.
I am not afraid to make an example out of you

Thanks for the response.  I'll check out the Browning BPS's.  I looked at a Nova but I wasn't too impressed with it.  I didn't really like it.  I'm going to a couple of gun shows next month so I'm trying to do my research now to try and get a good deal on a shotgun.  Thanks.

My Wingmaster is over 30 years old.  Still looks and shoots  great!  I replaced the 30" barrel a few years ago with a 26" with Remchokes.  Never a lick of trouble.  That gun has helped me bring home more birds and deer than you would believe.  You can't go wrong with a Wingmaster.  I have no opinion on the Express.  Jim
