There's only 5.4gr of powder in the little fella, they all shoot that way, it's normal. None of my four 17hmrs shoot well from a clean bore, it takes 20-30 shots before accuracy returns after cleaning, just shoot em and enjoy them. ;) I treat mine just like any other rimfire, only clean when accuracy starts to go away.

Hay every one! I have to admit mine is not a NEF\H&R, (its a savage), but from my experience it does shoot better after about 20 rounds or so. At first, I thought it was just barrel break in, as I bought it new. But after I have fired at least 1500 rounds though it, I have gotten to know my "Squirrel Slayer" pretty well. (Yes, I know this round is OVER-KILL for tree rats, but you don't waste any thing with head shots!). My advice is to keep it fouled, not filthy, unless you're putting it up for the season! ;)

what do ya mean you don't lose anything with head shots ?lol..... A friend of mines granny only likes the brains, with eggs. Not my cup o tea. I caught all kinds of crap the first time I took her a mess of headshot sqirrels. And I was really proud of my marksmanship!...lol
