Scope

I've got a gamo shadow 1000, and I've been thinking about getting a new scope for it.  I currently have a Crosman 4 x 32 sscope on it that I got from a friend, but I was looking to get a new one.  I dont have a huge budget, so I was looking at Bushnell Sharpshooter 3-9 x 40, a BSA Rimfire 4 x 32, a Tasco 3-9 x 32 Riflescope, or a Barska Rimfire 4 x 32.  I was wondering which one of these would be able to withstand the double recoil of whatever from magnum spring rifles.  Any help would be great, and any personal experience with these scopes would be even better.  I'm open to any new recomendations, but try and keep the price under 35 bucks.

I honestly don't think that any of those scopes will hold up very long.I have got a cheap powerline scope on my beeman r9.I got it at walmart for about 30.00 here in San Antonio,TX.I have actually bought a few of them.I gave one to my brother who installed it on a winchester 94 lever gun and had killed several hogs with it.The scope is the 3-9X32 model.

Oops, I forgot to mention that I had one that didn't work so well.However I have probably bought five or six of them.I have given most away to family or friends.

I also tried a couple regular rifle scopes on my Gamo Hunter with the same result....no groups. Finally bought a BSA air rifle scope in 4x and the groups tightend up and stayed that way. Was surprised at quality of the glass also.......for a BSA.  They get a pretty bad rap. I guess it's all in what you expect for what you spend.

Natchez shooters supply    http://natchezss.com/    has some BSA  airgun scopes reasonably priced.   I have two of the 3X12X44 and am well pleased with them.   Have one on a R-9 and it is holding up well.   Their web page also shows some that are refurbished but I don't know anything about them.  don

What ever scope you decide on, make sure you get it so it adjusts (focus) down in parallax to at least 10 yards or so.  A rifle scope, even rimfire scopes do not adjust down far enough so you would always have parallax error when shooting your airgun.  Most scopes you see if they have "AO" in their description means they do adjust for parallax - you just have to find out if it will focus down to at least 10 yards.

I have a Bushnell Trophy 4-12X40 w/ adj objective for use down to 10 yards, designed to be used w/ airguns. I love this scope and is very bright.

Good advice up there - make sure you get an airgun scope!

I have been looking at the Barska airguns scopes - http://www.barska.com/Air_gun.htm - I like the 2x7-32 - perfect for the shooting range of airguns.  This scope adjusts down to 7 yards which is better then most. Also, you can find this scope online from about $35-$40 if you search for it.  I have found it on ebay for $39.  Another plus, I have read some good reviews written by airgunners who use Barska scopes.  And one other strong point - they are mildot reticles

I would like to put a scope on my Model 34 RWS. I know that it is hard to get a scope that will last on a springer and I am thinking about buying an RWS Model 300 4x32. If the scope is as good as the rifle, I should be OK. What are your thoughts?

I put an RWS 2-7X AO scope on a model 48.
The scopes held up, but getting  the mounting & rings to hold everything tight was a chore.
Lapping the rings, a screw upgrade & some tricks now keeps things tight.
The eye relief is a little picky. It has to be just right to get a good view.
The AO does seem to help at different distances. The things I shoot at are on the small side so every little bit helps.

I am using a Barska 4X mil dot airgun scope on a Crosman Phantom.  It has held up very well with over 2000 pellets launched using it.  I have a BSA 4X Airgun scope that a Crosman Quest in 22 cal shook the ocular lens loose in less than 300 pellets.  My next airgun scope will be another Barska from my personal experience.
