Where to get free targets shaped like crosses?
« on: October 20, 2006, 02:42:19 PM »
I make my own targets with about 1/2" thick vertical and horizontal bars that are crossed. I find it easier to keep the crosshairs aligned this way.

Are there any targets like this on the net? Thanks.

this is a good site that has several targets that might fill the bill:

Save em as a Gif image so there not to large.

I like X's cuz you can really tell when your crosshairs are centered.

Personally, IMO, these are the easiest for 100 yards or more with crosshairs.   You fill in the white with your crosshairs and see just the orange circle.

Open microsoft word and set the Center justification. scroll about a third of the way
down the page and put a plus sign on your page. Then select it and increase the font size until it is as big as you want. Scroll down farther and put another one and print it out..

ba_50 ;

You already have some good sights to get targets from..but may I suggest..

Try some targets that are like Xs . I used to use cross shaped targets, but found X shaped targets even better.
That way I could center the cross hairs and still see the most of the crosshairs..easy to split a target from quarters to eighths..

I find with crosses, and conventional targets that I look for a specific point, but then hide it with my cross hairs,

so either put benchrest type square/rectangle or a corner in one of the crosshair's quarters,

or alternatively use this target, where you can place the cross nicely on the target without covering your cross or aimpoint.

I got this off Joe Dioso's site some time ago, but it seems to have lapsed.

You out there Joe ?
(Nice target !)

Never mind, a right click gives you access to it.

I have always preferred a diamond pattern on top of a cross to line up the crosshairs, seems to be easier for me to consistently line up on and has always produced the best groups for me. This is what I use, homegrown on a day many years ago when I was bored at work and needed to keep my little mind occupied, been using it ever since, for rimfire, centerfire rifle and slugs.

Hey ba,

When you get tired of shooting crosses,

shoot the real thing,...... or just stub out the cig.
