Thanks for the load info the other day guys. I just got back in from shooting my new Ultra 22-250. Heres the target. 13 degrees F. 25mph L-R crosswinds. Prone ,laying in the snow,going off a Harris Bi-pod. The load is 34.6grs of Accurate 4064 with Hornady 50gr V-Max bullets. 2.359 OAL.   Thanks again!

sounds like fun to me already!   at what distance was the target?

seriously: congrat's on the shooting.    keep practicing and you'll see these Handi's are a bargain for what they'll deliver.........in most cases.

Sorry-Target was at 50 yrds. The wind was to much for her at 100. My wife thought I was crazy for going out in this weather and shooting.

It looks to me like the holes in the paper are out-of-round, like the bullets were not being stabilized correctly; are those tear-outs?

I think under better conditions you can expect allot better groups at 100 yards ;D ;D

i believe you are right!   i missed that his bullets look like they're key-holing.   

the max' of AA-4064 with a 50 gr' Nosler is 38.0 gr's in the .22-250, with CCI-200's and Remington brass.   he's just a little above the starting load.   his overall length of 2.359 is also longer than the AA Maximum OAL' which the book/website shows.    i think these might be parts of the problem.

i hope this can be made right with a greater charge density and seating his bullet deeper.

Off a bi-pod in the snow at 13 , with a cross wind , i'd  say he did alright all things considered , try a little heaver charge of powder say 36 gr. to start .

Also you may need to switch to one of the Extream powders for this weather . i like H4895 for my 22-250 .

Sounds like coyote hunting weather in Maine to me, I have to get up there soon or I am going to bust!!! And thats fine for a coyote load in the wind buddy, they will never know what hit them!!!....<><.... ;D

 Looks like good group considering  conditions. I doubt very serious I coyuld
 do as well, Wonder if some of you fellows do much better. Marv.
