About twenty years ago my son and I went hunting one afternoon, he had worked all night and got off about ten am that morning. After a bite to eat, we drove the thirty miles out to our place. My son set on the ground with his back to a large mesquite tree, I was across a wheat field in a twelve foot high deer blind.
About three that afternoon I looked across the field toward where my son was setting, there stood a nice little buck and two doe, one of the doe appeared to be a yearling and was considerably smaller than the other one. I noticed the deer watching my son, the little doe walked a little closer, she sniffed, then moved even closer.. Finally, she moved up and actually touched his cheek with her nose causing him to wake up. At first he didn't know what had touched him, but he moved his head and was staring the doe in the eye from about 6-8 inches. It startled him, and he jumped, the other two deer turned and ran, the little doe came back for another sniff. Even as my son stood up, the deer still had it's nose stuck out sniffing. I suspect the deer was attracted by his snoring.
We still laugh about him going to sleep, but this is one of those times when I would have given a thousand bucks for a good video camera to record the incident.
