It should be easier to set up than the .243 superlight, smaller cartridge, less heat and and stress through the skinny barrel, I have the superlight in .243 and it is a fantastic rifle to take in the hills, a true light and compact rifle that after some careful reloading and bedding of the forend, it shoots three shot groups under an inch 100yds. I would have to spend 3-4 times the money to get a better performing rifle that is that light and short.

Is it that they aren't usually accurate or do they just heat up fast?

Going by past practice,of the superlights, the .243 superlight barrels are the worst for accuracy issues, the 223 less so, and the Hornet having a very good record and well liked since it doesn't heat up much at all. The .243 heats up very fast, even my 24" bull barrel is very hot after shooting 3 rounds in as many minutes, I could imagine what the pencil thin superlight barrel is like under the same conditions.

Use the google search for superlight, ultralight and ultra light, here's Aulrich's hornet report. Part of the problem with searching is too many shooters call it an ultra light incorrectly.

I have been thinking of getting one for my wife (243) as she come to love hunting. The accuracy problems of the superlight is it because the barrel heats up fast.If so can't you shoot one shot and wait say five mins. and shot another and so on to set the scope If that would work you should be alright when hunting because if everything works right you should only need one shot.Is my thinking right on these.

Holahead makes an excellent point, if the first shot accuracy is there consistently, and a second shot is close in case a followup shot is needed, I'd say the .243 superlight would make a most excellent carry rifle for deer. I don't think the superlight would make the best colony varmint gun tho!! :D

My superlight 22 hornet has given me a .502 100 yard group at its best. It averages about 3/4". I free floated the barrel with a piece of vinyl from a watch band. I use 13gr of lilgun and a 35gr Vmax. Seems to work ok on bunnys, coons and ditch cougars. I'm waitin to try it on coyotes and fox yet.

With my SL 243 it just wont shoot the heavy bullets 95 and 100 grs 4'' groups at best. It doest matter if I wait a hour between shots.  Now it will group the lighter bullets the 85gr gameking it will do 1.5'' all day. But I got it for my wife and daughter to deer hunt and I feel thats just not a deer hunting bullet IMO. So at least for mine waiting between shots doesnt seem to help.

are the open sights any good on these or are they the kind that cover the whole target at 100 yards?
