I've just recently been given a rifle thats been passed down from my father to me,as his father passed it down to him. The rifle hasnt been shot in about 20 yrs,and before i shoot it,or take to a competent smith to check it out,i need to find out more about the rifle. Its a Marlin Mod. 94 with a case hardened reciever, octoganal barrel, patent Oct 11 1887,April 8 1889,Aug 1 1893. The serial# is 406062 and its chambered for the 38-40. Any info as to when this rifle was produced and its value would be appreciated.
