Howdy, fellers. I'm a new poster, but I used to come by and look. Then I stop by and got to register. Anyway, just traded fer a Pedersoli Sharps .45-70 and was wonderin, how far will it really shoot.

Ol' Dad, I'll be the first to say welcome. I'm sure you will get a lot of good advise here. I know I have over the past couple of years. I'm sure you can give us some good advise also. This is a great bunch of guys to hang out with. They are a bad influence though, at least that's what my wife says when I go and buy something new (like a TC contender) just because I read about it here.
I really cant answer your question except to say that the folks shooting BP silhouette shoot better at really long ranges with their and tang peep sights than I can with my scoped rifles, and a lot of them shoot the 45/70.

Ol Dad

The 45-70 is used in competition out to 1000 yards in black powder cartridge matches.  It is also capable of shooting further so make sure you have a good backstop.
