Remington 1100 won't eject trap loads...
« on: January 24, 2007, 03:14:07 PM »
Hello-

My friends 1100 will not eject a standard trap load.  It is approximately 10 years old, and chambered for 3" shells.  The gun is "new" to him, so I don't know if it ever worked with these.  A heavier 2 3/4" load cycles fine.  I checked the rubber "o" ring, and it is fine, and the gun is clean.  Is there something wrong with this gun, or is it normal for the 3" 1100 not to cycle lighter loads?  My 11-87 shoots anything I put in it just fine...........

Thanks in advance.

You said it exactly correct. 1100 barrels chambered for 3" will not cycle light 2-3/4" shotshells.
If you REALLY want to shoot 2-3/4", you need to get a second barrel cambered for 2-3/4 in barrel for your 2-3/4 shotshells.
It will fit perfectly, it just has different gas porting than the 3" chambered barrels.

11-87's addressed this need/problem.

Good luck,

My 3in. 1100 cycles light 7/8 oz loads just fine.
