22" BC?
« on: January 26, 2007, 12:01:13 AM »
I'm thinking of getting a 22 blue 45/70 barrel for my nickle plate receiver but adding the Buffalo Classic stocks to it.  Anyone here try this combo?  How does it look, kinda of funky?  I want a 45/70 woods rifle but like the BC's classic straight grip stock.  If anyone here has a picture of this or a similar combo i'd really appreciate you posting a pic of your gun for review.  THANKS!

Here is a 22" 500S&W in my Target Model receiver and stocks. It would look better with my Topper Deluxe Classic forearm but I don't have a picture with it.

Nice looking rig.  Where did your "target model stock" come from?  Is that a factory item or aftermarket??

Thanks,

Here's a couple pics of the BC/Target stock with recoil pad, one with TDC forend.

270Handiman,
Mine are the H&R factory stocks that come on the 38-55 target model.

My.38-55 target is gonna get one of the .45 colt carbine barrels on it. Should look just like the ones above but with the case hardened receiver. I think I like it already.

There ya go!!  That's what I'm gonna do to my 20ga Tamer and then take the Tamer stock and use it on a chopped down 20 on a standard Pardner frame.  Thanks Tim, I wondered, too, about the recoil pad.

Thank you VERY much gentlemen, the BC stock looks pretty decent even with the "shorty" 22" barrel as I hoped.  How much do the BC stock sets run?
Tim, where do you get the TDC forend from?  Looks great, prefer it over the schnabel BC forend.
Thanks again everyone!

I think the BC stock set is a little over $100, but give H&R a call, you can also check on the cost of the TDC forend while you're at it. ;)
