Stock removal

The stock bolt is way up in there!  I have the extension but my 9/16 is too wide to fit all the way into the narrow part of the stock.  What's the proper tool?

A 3/8" drive, 9/16" or 14mm socket works fine, if you're using ½" drive socket, it probably won't work. If you are using a 3/8" drive, you'll need to get a thin wall socket or buy a cheapie and make it a thin wall by grinding it!! ;D

grinding=material reduction=use of power tools=man in heaven.......i think i'll go stand around Lowe's or Home Depot for a couple of hours.

A couple nights ago I took off the pad and checked/tightened the stock bolt a little.  I used a 3/8 drive, 9/16" socket with 10" extension.  Worked perfect.

  1/4 inch drive craftsman ,9/16 socket,two 6inch extensions together works ,mine worked without grinding

To be honest, no one has ever reported having a problem getting a socket on the bolt head, but the syn stock is restrictive and a ½" drive socket may be too thick, I've used a couple different 3/8" drive sockets with no problems.

What can I say?  I was expecting the Choate stock to arrive today but I missed it 2 days early!  Postman faked me out. I got so giddy I tried to squeeze in a quick stock trade when I didn't really have time too.  Couldn't help myself.  I thought I remembered the size.  :-\ Needless to say I gave up early to await your replys!  I've been resisting posting a..."OOOOOOHHHHHHHHYYYEEEEEAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!" rifle gluttenish, almost youthfully exhuberant, but none the less embarassingly childish post in which I would probably express my incredible delight that I'll be shooting that rifle most of my Saturday. ;D I'll take a good minute to enjoy the gun and work the barrel a bit.  Got a couple  boxes of '06 with my name written all over it.  Everything lined up pretty quickly actuallybetween Walmart and Midway.  Anyway, thanks Handi boosters.  I like my gun.  Lets see how we shoot!
