Contender sights for taco hold
« on: April 30, 2008, 04:26:17 PM »
I am setting up an NRA hunter class pistol (not sure what caliber yet) and I need the least expensive option for open sights using the taco hold.  I know the Ken Light full ribs are the way to go but if possible, I'd like to set it up without spending $155 for sights.  Is there anything else available?  Thanks.

If you are after a rear sight that is a notch, I know of no other than Ken Light's setup.  You might consider a peep rear with a post front.

I would also suggest that you slide over to www.ihmsa.net and register there as well and ask your question.

Hi
The only "taco hold" I have ever seen or used was for a rifle scope, mounted on a light recoiling caliber pistol. When you try a "taco hold" with iron sights the rear notch gets too wide.

Ken Light sold a Bo-Mar with a narrow 30/1000 rear notch that is idea for an iron sight taco hold.  With Bo-Mar out of business, I do not know if he has any left or not.  I have one on my 25-20, and it works perfectly.

Hey Steve,
Check Ken Lights current ad in the IHMSA news.  For most of his sight packages it now list with KL rear sight.  I had heard that he had a "bo-mar" style rear sight in work.  I am not sure if this is actually the case but the add has changed.  If you look at his web site it still lists the bo-mars.

check the $$ for a Williams peep and since you said NRA hunter pistol, contact A. AdCock of Strickly Ad-On sights, he make a large tube front sight, and can modify your front sight with and Adj. width blade.
