winter time shooting
« on: January 26, 2007, 12:34:47 PM »
Last weekend my son and I went jack rabbit hunting. I used my Renegade with the Green Mountain LRH barrel. I used the 410 gr hornady great plains bullets. WOW! I have seen rabbits blow up from 270's, 06's 223's. I think the 50 was harder on them.
Today I went long range shooting. I took a couple of 100 yard shots to check the windage and went to 300 yards. The target I was using was a hanging piece of metal about 15" X 15".  It gave a nice clang when it was hit. After I was done shooting I went to look at the group. I could have covered about all of them with a paper plate. I was having to hold almost a foot into the wind and it was a very light wind. I did miss a couple of times at first trying to figure out the wind. It was a lot of fun on a nice warm winter day.
