Today in the deer woods

I had a lot to do this morning so I was not able to get out at first light, so I took care of what I had to and went to the firehouse. We where all talking and eating lunch when I decided to go hunting. A few other guys went on another farm but one guy didn’t have a place to go. Since my normal hunting partner had to work today I took him with me.  I placed him on a field edge at one end of the farm and I moved my stand to another fields’ edge and setup in a tree about 10 feet up and 10 feet in the wood line. I had no idea that the landowner was gona run a combine in the dried up soybeans. Right after I got settled in my stand they started to cut the soybean in the field I was sitting beside, well this went on until 4 pm. While they where cutting my filed the other guy saw 10 doe jump and run in front of him he never got a shot off. About 4:30 I saw a deer standing on the fair end of the field waving his tail in the air. He had no idea I was in the tree stand across from him. The deer ran straight trough the field to the wood line I was sitting in, I thought to my self He was going in the woods and I would not get a shot at him. The next thing I knew I saw him walking towards me along the edge of the woods, I got my 14 inch 209x50 contender ready. The deer was walking right past me when I was about to yell to make him stop so I could get a shot off he stopped 10 feet from me just behind some branches all I could get was a good shot at his neck. So I took it the hornady 240 gr. Xtp bullet hit him right where I wanted it to. The deer jumped and ran right under my stand and into the woods. I could hear him fall down so I knew it was a good hit. I got down packed up my stand and put it in the field. When I went to where I thought the deer had fallen I saw it was a very nice 8 point buck! When I drug him out I counted 50 paces. Once I dressed it out and checked it in the buck was like 125 pounds. Not bad for the deer in my area .
Now comes the real problems 1) what to do with all the meat and 2) where will I put it at, But I think I like problems like this.
Hope everyone’s hunt was as good as mine

Thank you guys,
This was my first deer ever with a rack. 3 days later I took a very small doe (50lbs) on a deer drive but I had to use a shot gun with handloaded cast 1 oz slugs.

The barrel was made for me by Fred at bullberry. it is a 14 inch blackpowder barrel for my contender.

It wont shoot 1 hold groups at 100 yards but it shoots as good as my knight rifle. As long as I do my part it shoots about 1 1/2 -2 inches at 100. well not target grade accuracy but not bad for a muzzle loader
