If your Omega gets alittle goofy...

The other day my Omega got goofy on me.Nothing extreme, just a slight change in point of impact and inconsistent group size.I figured she had a bit of plastic fouling , but a good scrub changed nothing.I did notice thant the amount of effort needed to close the breech was significantly less than previous, and I began to get alot of fouling on the breechface, so I dismounted the stock and lo and behold both screws on the foward block were quite loose as were the 2 that hold the breech assembly to the barrel.Tightening them produced an immediate and remarkable improvement in both accuracy and consistency.If you have an Omega that's  alittle off, check those 4 screws.

You need to apply more torque installing the stock after cleaning. Do not torque-down one screw with the other removed. Do both at the same time and use the same torque pressure every time you install the stock.

Is it the black synthetic stock? if it is, that is a current problem with the omegas. make sure you check the barrel lug area in the stock for cracks. Its not that you didnt torque it down correct, its the stock being flexy and the barrel lugs area are weak. Make sure you inspect those barrel lug area's in the stock really good, You may even want to invest in having someone glass bed the stock to stiffen it up.

The screws I was referencing aren't the stock screws.My rifle does have the tupperware stock, which I'm going to replace with a gray laminate ASAP.Rather ,I was referring to the mounting screws that attach the foward block and the breech mounting block to the barrel these are the 2 blocks that the stock screws thread into. Cant stand the synthetic stock.Every rifle I've had so equipped , exceptin a Knight American, was disaster.The Knight stock was solid , not hollow and resisted flexing quite well.Takedown and reassembly gave no zero changes .

Oh okay thats a better investment there. But i know what you mean about the flexy stocks, Companys need to start beefing them up for the customer seeing how they like to charge so much. I got a really nice solid composit stock on mine and you can take it off, put it across your knees and pull and it wont flex. Thats how they need to start making stocks.
