Good slug for cylinder bore????
« on: May 23, 2008, 05:50:50 AM »
I was wondering if anyone had some suggestions for a slug for a cylinder bore...I would believe the slug that matched the bore the closed would be the most accurate....I tried some winchester slugs today and about the best i could get was 4-5" at 50 yards....I was really hoping for 2-3" at the same range...Would the new federal with the plastic ball in the base be more accurate, or maybe the Brennke??? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...

My Remington 1100 slug barrel prefers the Remington 1oz Sluggers...It did about the same as yours with the Winchesters...

Try a bunch of different brands and see, the Foster slugs are designed to obturate, that is expand to fit the bore.

With my cylinder bore 870 18.5" barrel I had excellent results with the B&P slugs from www.eabco.com.  I was able to shoot many sub 2" 3 shot groups with that setup.  They are similar in design to the Brenekke KO slugs that I would also suggest trying.
