I believe the replies are useful, but I wouldn't have the confidence to take the shot - or would have enough doubt to mess it up. You are scoping for the longer shots where the error is even greater.
I suspect there may be other systems that return to zero better, or you could maybe have something made up specially if you were prepared to shell out the $$.
I'm not saying it's a bad idea, but I've been there with systems on rifles that were supposed to be "perfect return to zero" and that's how I always ended up feeling. If you can get to take a shot or 2 to sort out the zero after fitting the scope again it's obviously problem solved.
