I haven't found any bad inline muzzleloading info there. Like all products that are reviewed from places like this, you need to try them first in your ML.  No two MLs are alike - so results are going to vary.

Sure there is going to be some good and bad. But it is information nevertheless. I take everything I read and use it as a reference. What I do is experience it for myself and then make my own informed decision.

No matter where you go, you are going to find good and bad information, it is how you use it that counts.  ;)

As with all information sources, you need to use a critical eye.

1)  Staying out of the politics of what happened, I agree that the savage breechplug design is questionable.  No matter how that gun blew, I don't think a half threaded plug that lets gas into a thinner area of the breech is a good design...especially with smokeless.  Smokeless can erode metal, anyone who shoots a magnum knows that barrels burn from it in the throat area.

2)  I see Bridges was the one involved in the questionable Precision Rifle drop test.  Funny how their bullets took the top 6 spots, yet the 200gr Shockwave was conveniently left out of the test while the 250gr SST was included.  If this site is the center for inline ML, they should have known how popular the 200gr Shockwave is for its trajectory and included it in the test.

Bridges has an axe to grind against the Balls and Savage.
I caught him in several lies when he was explaining the exploding Savage. Since then, I don't believe a word he says.
It makes me sad. He is a very knowledgable guy.
I am sure that most of the info on his web site is good.
As for me, I don't go over there anymore.

After all I have read on the Web regarding Bridges, I just take it with a grain of salt.  He's very knowledgable, but lets his bias against people/clubs/rifles hurt his credibility.  This is heresay, but I have read that he was using loads that were way over maximum when that rifle blew up, and then he tried to sue Savage for the design of the rifle resulting in failure.  All I know is that Savage and the Ball's don't seem to want anything to do with him anymore, and several of the sponsors of the website don't either.  Who knows what kind of soap opera is going on behind the scenes?  Oh well.

Information neither good nor bad, but what you do or take from it is what is importaint.  Consider the source.  From what Ive read about him, is that he seems to go to the highest bidder.

I dont know him, or have anything to do with him, but I do have a Savage, and dont have any problem shooting it.  I just dont abuse it.

I just found it helpful to new muzzleloader shooters to get information. Like I posted above, use what you want from it, but use your judgement.

I find that an open forum like this, and some others are the best information.  Otherwise one might as well just read the companies advertisement for information.

I 100% agree that judgement must be used. When in doubt, just ask.

If the info on the Savage barrel rupture was incorrect, then one would think that two years later - those pics and the wordings describing the pics would no longer be there.

Where is the proof that Savage is suing Bridges for false or intended rupture? How about some kind of proof that Savage is suing Bridges for posting those pics and the words surrounding the pics?

Well go have a meeting with all your other "we alls" and provide me with some proof. I am not a believer of black & white wording specualtion - not a believer of 'it didn't happen" when a two year-old pic that still exists at that website says it did happen.

What other fairy tale books have you read or looked at?

I for one think everyone should let sleeping Dogs lie, This debate has went on for a long time. Toby Bridges said it did happen. I for one own a Savage smokeless ML'er and have shot the s--- out of it and see no tell tale signs that has been told to look out for. Go to Doug's message boards and you will see 99.9 people who will set everyone straight. The people who keep bringing this up weren't there as was I. So until concrete proof is established, I will just sit back and wait. Just my 2 cents. Lou
