23" contender .44mag barrel

Got my new MidWay catalog today and it shows a 23" .44 mag barrel for the contender.   Does anyone have any history with this combination?  I had a bad experience with Handi .44 and want to avoid that again.

Cut it down to about 18" and it would be a perfect carry around rifle.   KN
