Ice fishing

Has anyone been on the ice yet?  Was wondering if it were thick enough to fish on up around Chetek and Rice Lake.  Hate to make the drive if I can't get out yet.

Hard to say I am sure the cold weather has been making ice but the 32 + degrees forcast for the next week I do not think will help any. You might want to find a bait shop in the area and call them.  :)  I have no idea if any one has been out yet or not. I do not get too reved about ice fishing unless I can fish in a warm shack. Now days I cannot stand the cold due to poor circulation due to the diabeties I have since 97.  >:(

Talked to a friend on the ice today. Ten miles north of Rice Lake there is 8" of solid ice. I seen an atv on this lake also.

Thanks Cheese - I believe I'll head up that way come Friday.  Things came up and I couldn't get out on Saturday.

Drove by Long Lake in Washburn County, west of Birchwood and seen several fisherman and some shacks today.

We are making ice today. It is 8:30 am and still 22 degrees below zero. Maybe try ice fishing next weekend on Chequamegon Bay, I am sure the ice will be a little thicker by then.
