Tax break on E85 vehicles?
« on: February 12, 2007, 05:31:18 AM »
Any tax experts on this board?

Last year, I bought a 2007 Chevy Silverdo 4x4 with the 5.3L "alternative fuel" engine.  This is the one that can use either regular gasoline, or E85 (E85 is a blend of 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline).

In doing my taxes over the weekend, I see that you can get a tax credit for alternative fuel vehicles.  But I can't figure out if this truck qualifies.

The IRS form (Form 8910) lists some of the vehicles which qualify, and they list the 2007 "Silverado 4WD Hybrid pickup truck".  But I don't thick Chevy makes a true hybrid (gas and battery) pickup truck, do they?  I wonder if the IRS means the E85 truck, even though they said "hybrid".

Does anyone know?

Not on  the alternative fuel vechiles just the silverado hybred and the credit is 250 I think.  If a car company has sold over 60,000 units the tax is reduced and than done.  Which I think toyota has done

Thanks, Odinbreaker.

My mistake  -  I checked on their website and see that Chevy does make a true hybrid pickup.

$250 on the 2wd and $650 on the 4wd   look at Fueleconomy.gov and they have the charts and numbers listed under the tax credits.
