Ruger Fixed Sights

I've got 4 different Rugers with fixed sights - a Vaquero .45 4^5/8 bbl, Single Six .32 H&R, Single Six 50th Anniversary, and a Bearcat.  All of them out of the box shot low for me anywhere from 2 to 4 inches at 25 yds depending on the loads.  Is this by design?  Or is it me?  Since they're shooting low it's fairly easy to correct, but it's still a little disconcerting to go filing on a fixed sight (although I don't plan to touch the Single Six 50th).

I believe Ruger supplies a tall front sight on all it's fixed sight revolvers.  That way people can adjust(file) the sight for what ever load they prefer.

just be very carefull shoot the crap out of it and make sure your going to stick with the load youve got. Then VERY slowly do it. I like to leave them shooting right at sight level or even an inch low so that if you do change your mind about loads you dont find youve filed to much off. Keep in mind too that it takes very little filing to move your point of impact. If your going to shoot say a light and a heavy load throught the gun youve first got to shoot them both and find the middle and sight for there. An inch or two to compenstate for in the field is no  big deal as long as your used to your gun.

Thanks for the replies, and the advice (Lloyd).  That's the way I did with the .32 H&R Single Six several years ago (my first Ruger fixed sight). Settled on a load I liked, then filed the sight to where it shot to point of aim.  But after buying several other Rugers that shot pretty much the same, I began to wonder if it was me - the way I shot. It makes since that Ruger would leave a little extra on the front blade, but I had never heard if thats in fact the way they made them.  That Single Six .32 is sure a fun little handgun.
