Encore Recoil Pad - Good Folks Report
« on: February 06, 2007, 04:37:47 AM »
Hey All:  I went to the ATA show in Atlanta a couple of weekends ago.

While I was there, I dropped by the booth set up by Sims Vibration Laboratories.  These are the folks who make Limbsaver recoil pads, among other things.

I happened to mention to the guy at the booth that I had a Limbsaver recoil pad on an Encore walnut buttstock and, for lack of a better word, the pad was melting.  Actually the pad had gotten extremely sticky with a kind of glue oozing out of it.

He replied that Sims had a run of pads that didn't get the proper treatment prior to leaving the manufacturing facility and, if I would just give them a call, Sims would replace it - no charge.

I called the 800 number he gave me and, viola, I had a new pad in hand within 3 days.  No charge for the pad and no shipping charges.

Just wanted to pass along this information - good folks to deal with.

I had the exact same experience with my LimbSavers...started to stick to the bottom of the safe! I sent them the pad, they called and said they would send one out...and they did. Great warranty.

Gents,

What are your opinions of the SIMS pad?  Do you think there was any felt recoil reduction?

The pads you are talking about, were they the "Pre-Fit" models that are available?  If they were, how well did the "pre-fit" fit??

Was thinking of putting one on my Walnut stock.

Bill:  I really like the pad.  Mine is the pre fit model and it fit okay, I needed to do a small amount of fitting to the butt stock to get a perfect fit but it is not an onerous task and gave me something to do on a cold Saturday afternoon.

Where are you in SC?

Bill, The Limb Saver made it comfortable to shoot the heavier calibers (209x50; 375H&H; 405; etc.). I have the composite stock and it fits faily well. Seems to me there is some minor fitting to fit the wood stock.
