« on: January 29, 2007, 06:06:17 PM »
I just discovered today that out of the four loading manuals I've got that none of them have any data on varget. Can someone please give me the data on 52 and 55 grain bullets until I can get a new manual.Thank you.

I'll look up my notes when I get home and get back to you. I'm pretty sure I know, but I want to double check.

Check this out. Not sure if this helps or not. I'm at work and could give you some loads that have worked for me, but you'd still need to work up to them. Basically, I end up pretty close to a full cartridge, nearly a compressed load, after workup.

Lyman 48 shows 25 gr Varget for 55 gr jacketed SPT. 2977fps, 34700cup. "potentially most accurate".  For 52 gr jacketed HPBT, 25.6 gr Varget, 3019 fps, 35,500CUP.

Hodgson (2007 Annual) shows 55 gr SPR SP, 25.5 gr Varget, 3174 fps, 41300CUP. No 52 gn. 53gr SIE HP, 24 gn Varget, 3026 fps 38400.

All of these are starting loads.

My current streetbike is a '03 Ducati Monster 1000. My track bike is a 99 Ducati Supersport 900 chassis w/ a '03 Monster 620 motor. I occasionally visit the Monster list. Most boards are just discouraging. Bikes are a lot like guns. Most guns guns shoot better than the shooters, most bikes perform better than the riders, yet everybody is convinced theirs is the only choice and everyone else is an idiot. I've been riding for forty years now and don't have the patience I used to have. Thanks for listening.

Sounds like you have been there and done that.I own two yamaha FZ1's and a Honda ST1300.I've not been to a track yet,but would like to go to one of the better riding schools eventually. We ride the East Tenn. western NC area alot.We own a small cabin there and go up as often as we can.I'll admit,I am torn between my two loves...riding and shooting. There are know it all's in both who will loft their nose in arrogance thinking that they are the greatest.I know just enough about both to know that there is always something else to learn. The arrogant ones usually don't know crap anyway.Let me know if you ever go ride in that area, maybe if were up then we can get together
