My best guess is that 2 out of 8 home wireless systems are not secure.

Yep, there are several ways to keep them out. I loaded linux onto the prom in my router then built up the firewall, do mac filtering, no broadcast of the ID and you also have to have the password I set that just for giggles I put in a different language then converted it to hex.
