Need help barrel screwed up
« on: February 10, 2007, 04:40:03 AM »
I bought a used 270 barrel awhile back and I fitted it to my resever temp. I found a guy that said he could fit it like the factory, well when I got it back he had ground so much of the piviot lug off that I think its junk and its offset. Can I send the barrel back to NEF and have them put a new lug back on it or should I say screw it and just order another barrel?

dang that is a bummer, im not really sure im sure the other guys on here can answer this better than me, but boy, i dont think H&R would like to see a barrel that someone has tampered with especially when people arent really suppose to tamper with that stuff, they may not take care of your problem.  But like i said im no expert but personally i dont think they will do anything about it.  Sorry man, hopefully someone has some better news for you.

Please post what you find out

Thanks
adam

Maybe I can send barrel to one of you guys that play with these thing and have you put a new lug on and fit it to your gun and hope its close to mine. I hate to lose a good barrel because I cant fix it.

You can ask Quickdtoo how to go about re fitting your lug...He's pretty good at doing this...You will have to get it square again...and this will require you do file it carefully and beyond what it already is...Then shim it and re-file it to fit...

What Mac said, that's basically barrel fitting in a nutshell, read the barrel fitting info in the FAQs and Help sticky, that's exactly what I did to a barrel that I have.
