R-25 and the 7mag
« on: February 11, 2007, 11:35:04 AM »
I've been trying to find a load for the 7 Rem mag using 154gr Interbonds.  Reloadersnest has a post of 73gr of R-25 under a 154IB that is supposed to produce 3280fps out of a 26" tube.  I know every gun is different, but I can only safely get about 3250fps w/ the 139IB's in my 26" M700 w/ R-22.  I haven't messed w/  R-25.  Has anyone played with this or a similar load?  Thanks for any info, Brett

Yes, R25 is one of my favorites. I'm not surprised R22 gave you lower velocities. I found the same to be true. :)

Yes, I did chrono. I have a 24" tube so it will not equate velocity wise with your 26". The 73gr R25 load you mention seems extreme to say the least. At 70.2gr I begin to see the primer flattening and the groups open up. The same thing occurs with R22 at 68gr (same bullet). the R25 load is running 80-112 fps faster.
