Loading for the .500 S&W Handi
« on: February 11, 2007, 10:31:12 AM »
Got going on reloading some ammo for my 500 and found that my brass seems to have the large pistol primers that measure at about .138" in depth. The large magnum rifle primers that I have  (don't have any large rifle),, measure about .145" in depth. I have some large pistol primers and some 385 grain Remington jacketed bullets and the Hogdon manual shows  39.0 grains of H110 as a starting load with a pressure of 38,700 PSI. Think these loads would be safe with the large pistol primers?

I'll be getting more components soon including brass with large rifle primers and some cast lead bullets with gas checks for reduced loads but for now,, I want to make it go BOOM ;D

Well, forget about those primer measurements above,, my dial caliper is toast. The wife wanted to borrow it to take to work and measure something on a cash register, she must have dropped it ::)
