Good GMC Warranty Service!
« on: March 13, 2007, 03:42:08 PM »

I must compliment my GMC dealer.  This morning I left off my 2005 Serria 1500,  Extended Cab Z-71.  The problem is that I have air leaks on both sides at the top of the doors.  The service representative is ordering the parts.  While it was in they found a leaky front seal which they repaired.  And they checked a steering shaft which GM has developed a replacement part for and it was starting to come lose.  All this was done under the warranty.

I just got off the OFFICE of Defect Investigations web page.  The steering shaft problem appears to be common with 2005 GMC and 2005 Chevy Pickups.  I know a bunch of you bought vehicles during the 2005 Employee Discount Event so you might want to get that pickup checked out by your dealer.

“INTERMEDIATE STEERING COLUMN BEGAN RATTLING AND FELT EXTREMELY LOOSE AT 12,000 MILES. DEALERSHIP LUBED PART BUT DID NOT REPLACE. RATTLING AND LOOSE FEELING HAVE RETURNED AND TRUCK WILL EVENTUALLY NEED TO BE RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR ANOTHER LUBE OR A REPLACEMENT PART. CURRENTLY, I HAVE 19,000
MILES. *JB”

A lot of tire wear complaints from Chevy owners my be releted to the shaft problem.
