G2 barrels on original contender frames
« on: February 13, 2007, 04:57:45 PM »
This has been around before so humor me a little.  Purchased a new contender G2 carbine barrel that is loose on the frame with mostly side to side movement.  I thought it might be this specific barrel so I tried another one that a friend had with the same results.  None of my 21" old style carbine barrels are loose, any thoughts on this?  I know about Bellms oversized pins but I don't want to go that route.  Does anyone make an expandable pin that is adjustable?  thanks, T

I have never heard of one.

If the play is that the barrel slides a little side to side slipping on the pin a larger one won't help.  If it wiggles side to side pivoting on the pin because it is to small then one may help.

I am waiting for the lightning to strike.  This is the first time i have even come close to recommending one.  I think the best cure would be to send the frame and barrel back to TC to get it fixed.  There shouldn't be enough play to cause a problem if it is made properly.  But a larger pin in this case could help.
