I have a question regarding the hunting rifle class. The rule says that a barrel must be shorter than 30" and tapered. No bull or varment barrels. What exactly constitutes a bull or varment barrel. Should'nt any tapered barrel be ok. Most bull barrels are not tapered. I'm asking because at a recent NRA shoot a competitor tried to tell the officials that a heavy tapered barrel like on the Ruger VBZ should be disqualified as a hunting rifle even if it meets weight. I read the rules diffrently.
