« on: May 06, 2003, 05:54:23 AM »
I just read a brief story from surplusrifle.com on a milsurp bolt-action in 30-06 cal. made for the Columbian Govt.  Take a peek........Sounds perfect!
"Pre-Sporterized Milsurp!"

Description: Q: What military issue bolt action rifle has a 1" rubber butt pad, windage and elevation adjustable aperture rear sight, integral muzzle brake, pistol grip (semi-Monte Carlo) style sporter stock, refined crafted features in the styling of a Spanish or Swedish Mauser, and is chambered in 30'06 caliber?

A: The Madsen M47/Colombian M1958 Rifle Caliber .30.

I posted about this gun before the 30-06 Colombian Madsen and the only thing is the price in orginal form its not a cheap surplus gun.  BigBill

I just picked up a mauser from peru rechambered from 7.65x53 to 7.62x63(30-06) its a very unique looking mauser.

What kind of accuracy are you getting from that
converted rifle?
I was thinking about a similar conversion.

I haven't shot it yet but it is 30-06 its stamped on top of the barrel.

Since the '06 is longer it isn't a hard conversion to make just rereaming the chamber. But I'm not sure if the orginal magazine will fit the longer '06 shell.

Re-chambered 7.65 Mauser

Big Bill and everyone:

I've examined, fired, and owned several of these re-chambered 7.65 Mausers.

When rechambered to .30-06 using the original barrel, accuracy is usually a diasaster!  The 7.65mm barrels mike out at .311 to as large as .317, and that does not work too good with standard .308 .30 caliber bullets.  You can sometimes improve accuracy to hunting standards by using .312-.313 diameter bullets, but if the barrel groove is on the large size, only custom cast bullets will give you anything resembling acceptable accuracy.

At one time, in the 1960-1970's, Interarms rechambered tens of thousands of these Argentine mausers to fire .30-06.  They were intended to be economy sporters and sold for under $30 or $40.

Thank's for the information on the accuracy I really don't plan on shooting it too much its more for my collection and in too nice of shape to take out. It really caught my eye because of the shiney large ring, the peru crest, and "orginal mauser" stamped on the large ring under the crest and the lange rear site and "mauser" stamped in the rear of the stock. It kind of filled a hole in my mauser collection. Just a mauser I never seen before. I may shoot it just to try it.                                   BigBill
