Can tru-oil be touched up like a linseed?

I have decided on tru-oil, but if i scratch the wood down the line can i rub in more tre-oil to tuch it up?  I was thinking perhaps that rubbing in more tru-oil like once a year by hand would further protect the stock and keep it looking like new.  What do you all think?  Also, will the arasol cans work or should i stick with the basic oil?

Yes it can, I have done it many times, the new trueoil will disolve part of the old and will make a nice repair to a scratch.  You can add a little more any time you like, it is now my favorite stock finish.  I always use the bottels, I have never tried the spray.  Larry

I use the bottle....cut 50/50 with mineral spirits and sprayed on with an air-brush.......

VC.....Do you just let the 50/50 mix just cure like it was paint or do you rub it in like regular trueoil?

Sure can!! I use the bottles. Poke a hole with a needle thru the foil seal and you can apply one drop at a time. Oxygen access to the material is limited and the pot life is immensely improved. I don care for the spray. It requires either a spray both or doing the job outside.. The rub on material I can do in warm workshop...

TruOil is good stuff.

Gunnut69 is right about air causing it to dry out in the bottle.  Turning the bottle over when you are done causes the skin to form away from the opening BUT make sure the threads are clean or the top may be attached permanently.

Well carefully applied water pump pliers will loosen it but you can also break the bottle.

Apply it and spruce it up whenever you feel like it.

I've got one stock, Siamese mauser conversion, built in the mid 70's that has been freshened up every couple of years.  Looks great.
