L.C. Smith Parts
« on: February 16, 2007, 01:48:28 PM »
I just had a neat L.C. Smith refurbished, but the smith cannot find a spring that keeps the safety from going back so far that it goes off safety.  If you keep the "S" centered in the hole on the safety slide it is okay, but if you pull it back farther it will fire.  Need to find the part and will appreciate any help.

Sounds like you have an LC Smith 3 position safety that is working as it was designed to....if you want to change it to a 2 position safety, send me your email address and I will forward an aritcle (in pdf) that I did for American Gunsmith Magazine some years ago describing the proceedure.....

I didn't know about the 3-position until I began hunting this part, but there was a spring that was broken so I think it's a regular safety.  I orderd the spring from Numerich and it was shipped yesterday.  I'll let you know if I still have a problem.

BYW:  What would be the benefit of the 3 position safety?
